Envision Theater is seeking an energetic and passionate Jazz Dance Teacher for a new after-school club!

Role Description

The Jazz Dance Teacher will lead in-person jazz dance classes at Envision Theater’s Paramus, NJ location, providing structured instruction in technique, choreography, and performance skills.

This role includes planning age-appropriate and level-appropriate lesson plans, demonstrating movements, guiding students through warm-ups, across-the-floor exercises, and combinations, and preparing dancers for showcases or productions.

The teacher will give clear, constructive feedback, ensure a safe and organized studio environment, and adapt teaching approaches to different learning styles and abilities. Responsibilities also include collaborating with staff on schedules and performances, communicating with students and families about progress and expectations, and maintaining a professional and inclusive classroom culture. 

Location: Paramus, New Jersey

Schedule: Thursdays, beginning October 15 (Oct 15, 22, 29; Nov 5, 12, 19; Dec 3, 10, 17, 24 or 31). 

Compensation: $75/class

Qualifications

Formal training in dance, performing arts, or related fields; a degree, certification, or equivalent professional experience preferred.

Strong jazz dance technique and performance experience, with the ability to demonstrate movements and teach proper form safely.

Prior teaching or coaching experience in dance or performing arts, with skill in creating structured lesson plans and progressive curricula.

Effective communication and classroom management skills, including the ability to motivate, support, and guide students of varying ages and skill levels.

Commitment to an inclusive, non-discriminatory learning environment and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, identities, and abilities.

Ability to collaborate with other instructors and staff on productions, rehearsals, and studio events, and to follow organizational policies and procedures.

Basic knowledge of injury prevention, safe stretching practices, and appropriate physical conditioning for dancers.

Reliable availability for on-site classes and performances in Paramus, NJ; flexibility for evening or weekend schedules as needed.
